Has anyone found an alternative to treat ADD/ADHD children other than medication or diet changes? Are there any herbal remedies that actually work out there?

My daughter has not been diagnosed as ADD/ADHD, but it runs in the family.  She was kicked out of 2 daycares before she started kindergarten due to behavioral issues.  I took her to her pediatrician, a mental healthcare specialist.  They said she was gifted, but her impulsivity was way out of control.   I notice a HUGE difference with her behavior after eliminating artificial dyes from her diet.  Both of my children react negatively to artificial dyes, especially red 40 and yellows.  They lose ALL control of their emotions (crying at everything to screaming to laughing in an instant).  Also, I started giving her Omega-3 (fish oil) vitamins to help her focus.  It was like a switch was flipped!  My husband and I decided to test to see if the Omega-3's were really working.  She went 2 weeks without the vitamins and we got notes everyday from her teacher, phone calls from the after school care.  It was a constant battle!!  As soon as she started taking the vitamins again, the notes and phone calls stopped!  I was shocked!!  Just remember that it is different with each kid, but it worked for mine!!
